The type of glass I work with is called Borosilicate, also known as Pyrex. It is commonly used for scientific applications due to its non-reactivity with most substances, it can handle high heat and pressure. I use an oxygen propane gas blend to fuel my torches. I then melt the glass using several different style torches. I manipulate the glass by pushing and pulling it apart and blowing into it when needed. I also use gravity to help me shape my pieces. Once I achieve a desired shape I put the finished piece into a kiln that is set to 1050 degrees. It will stay there overnight to slowly cool.
